What you're buying
Moissanite is a lab-grown gemstone — harder than sapphire, with more fire than a diamond. It is not a diamond and we don't call it one. How to measure: wrap a strip of paper or a piece of string around the base of the finger, mark where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler. That length in millimetres is your circumference — match it to the table. Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and measure the finger you actually intend to wear it on.
How to wear it
The marquise sits with its points running along the finger, so it wants a clear finger — nothing stacked against it. Wear it alone on the ring or middle finger and let the length do the work.
Care
- Sterling silver tarnishes with air and moisture. A soft polishing cloth restores it.
- Remove before showering, swimming, and hot tubs.
- Take it off for washing up, gym equipment and anything abrasive — a stone this size catches on things.
- Put jewellery on after perfume, lotion, and hand cream.
- Store it dry and separate, ideally in a closed pouch — air is what tarnishes it.
